The station primarily focuses on speech-related programmes, with very limited music content. Its programming delves into in-depth perspectives on world politics, domestic politics, journalism, and offers diversity through refreshing comedy, compelling readings, and drama. During the night, from 1:00am to 5:20am, BBC Radio 4 broadcasts a selection from BBC World Service. The breakfast show on BBC Radio 4 is the immensely popular "Today" programme, airing on weekdays from 6am to 9am, and on Saturdays from 7am to 9am. BBC 4 Today covers national and international news, as well as sports. Furthermore, the "Thought for the Day", which features inspirational thoughts from religious thinkers, is included in the programme, typically around 7:45am. Presenters of the "Today" programme include Emma Barnett, Justin Webb, Mishal Husain, Amol Rajan, Martha Kearney and Nick Robinson.
