About BBC Local Radio
Listen live to the internet radios of BBC Local stations. BBC Radio, as the primary provider of the most popular national radio broadcasts, also operates local and regional stations, ensuring locally relevant information sources across the UK. BBC's local stations primarily focus on informative content with an emphasis on speech, including news, sports, and music broadcasts. Today, there are more than 40 local stations under the broadcaster's umbrella, established one after another over the years. The first station in the non-commercial local network was Leicester station in 1967, and the most recent addition to the network is the Berkshire station, which commenced operations in 1992. The playlists of these local stations feature a diverse selection of timeless pop music, with most stations having their individual musical line-ups. The programming for these stations primarily consists of locally produced content, complemented by some shared and simulcasted programs within the network.
