Community Radio Awards 2018 shortlist announced

Greg James welcomes listeners to Radio 1 Breakfast
Greg James has hosted his first breakfast show as permanent host of the slot, following Nick Grimshaw’s six-year run. Bauer Media Group agrees to acquire Jazz FM
Jazz FM has been sold to Bauer Media for an undisclosed sum. The independent station, which has 672,000 weekly listeners, will be managed by Bauer’s Steve Parkinson, Group Managing Director of National Radio. Popcaan, Stefflon Don and Kojo Funds added to the 1Xtra Live line-up
BBC Radio 1Xtra has announced three additional artists for this year’s 1Xtra Live line-up. Hosted by the 1Xtra DJ family, the station’s flagship live music event will take place in London at the O2 Arena on Saturday 22 September. Capital’s Vick Hope lined up for Strictly Come Dancing
Capital Breakfast co-host Vick Hope has been announced as a contestant on the new series of Strictly Come Dancing. Vick presents the London (and national DAB) show with Roman Kemp and Sonny Jay, where news of Vick’s participation was first announced. “I’m so excited about being a contestant on this year’s Strictly. Aled Jones to go Walking in the Air for Global
Classic FM presenter Aled Jones is kicking off Global’s Make Some Noise fundraising this year by taking on a wing walk challenge in the skies above Britain. Aled’s career started over 30 years ago with the release of Walking in the Air, but the song will take on a new meaning when he takes off for his flight in September – and the more money raised, the higher, faster and steeper the pilot will fly.Publication date: 14.08.2018
Date set for new Radio 1 Breakfast Show with Greg James
Greg James will start the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show earlier than expected, he has announced on BBC Breakfast TV. Laverne to replace Keaveny on 6 Music Breakfast

Sam FM Bristol to join Bristol DAB multiplex
Celador is adding Sam FM Bristol back to the local DAB multiplex in a bid to increase listenership to the service. As part of its licence application to Ofcom to retain the licence, Celador says it will return the service to DAB in early August with a desire to increase reach.Publication date: 07.08.2018
