Wireless creates its own weekly Top 40 show

Local radio stations owned by Wireless are to broadcast a new weekly Top 40 chart show each Sunday afternoon from 4pm till 7pm. The Total Access Top 40 will be hosted by Olivia Jones and available on nine stations – Signal 1, Signal 107, Wish FM, Pulse 1, Peak FM, Tower FM, Wire FM, Radio Wave and The Wave. The chart will be compiled from airplay, downloads and sales in the UK and sponsored by The Sun.

Dawn French to be the voice of Greatest Hits Radio

Dawn French will be the station voice of Bauer’s Greatest Hits Radio brand when it officially launches in January. The station, playing music from the 70s, 80s and 90s, will be on numerous DAB multiplexes around the UK, 105.2 FM in the West Midlands and 105.9 FM in Liverpool, AM in the North and online.

Classic FM signs newsreader and presenter Moira Stuart

BBC Radio 2 morning newsreader Moira Stuart is joining Classic FM from February. Moira will be joining Tim Lihoreau on breakfast and then Classic FM’s morning programme with John Suchet to read the news each weekday. Then from July, Moira will join the weekend line-up to present her own Saturday afternoon show, Moira Stuart’s Hall of Fame Concert, replacing Nicholas Owen who will remain on Classic FM to present other programmes throughout the year.

Sian Anderson takes Trevor Nelson’s 1Xtra Saturday show

Trevor Nelson is stepping down from his Saturday slot on 1Xtra to be replaced by Sian Anderson. Trevor will continue to host his Sunday show, but Sian will host Saturday and Friday from 4pm till 7pm. Sian moved to the Friday afternoon slot last year after hosting a Wednesday night show. Previously, Sian has presented several BBC documentaries including ‘Beyond The Music: Grime Photography’.

Marvin Humes and Kat Shoob leave Big Top 40

Marvin Humes and Kat Shoob are stepping down from hosting the Big Top 40 chart show at Global. Kat has been on the show for almost a decade whilst Marvin joined the countdown to replace Rich Clarke in 2014. The show is currently broadcast across 140 radio stations with an audience each week of 2.2 million, but this will change next month as Bauer and other radio groups stop taking the show. leaving it predominantly on Capital and Heart.

Tom Green & Daisy Maskell to host KISS Breakfast

KISS evening presenter Tom Green and 4Music television presenter Daisy Maskell are the new hosts of KISS Breakfast. Tom and Daisy will replace Rickie, Melvin & Charlie who are leaving the Bauer station after a decade to join BBC Radio 1. As a result of Tom moving to breakfast, Tyler West will take over the evening show, all from January.

Emma Bunton takes a break from Heart Breakfast

Heart Breakfast co-presenter Emma Bunton has announced she will be stepping down from the daily show whilst on tour with the Spice Girls next year. On the programme this morning (Monday), Emma confirmed said she won’t be on the programme next year to focus on the reunion tour, her family and other exciting projects, saying it was the hardest thing she’s ever had to do. Emma will still be on-air each Sunday evening from 7pm till 10pm as normal across the Heart network.

Keeley Hawes made Classic FM’s female station voice

Classic FM has hired actress Keeley Hawes to be the new female voice of the station alongside the actor Robert Lindsay, who is the male voice of the station. Neev to replace Pandora on KISS mid-mornings
