BBC Radio 1 hires singer songwriter YUNGBLUD

BBC Radio 1 has partnered with YUNGBLUD for a brand new weekly podcast launching on BBC Sounds in October. Announced during his appearance on Clara Amfo’s show today for Radio 1’s Live Lounge Month 2020, The YUNGBLUD Podcast will interview young music fans who are approaching turning points in their lives. Each week, he’ll chat to one fan to discuss topics and issues affecting young people today, whether it be gender, sexuality, identity, money worries, friendships, style or mental health. Launch date and schedule set for Radio 1 Dance

Radio 1 Dance, the BBC’s first 24 hour streaming-only radio station launches on Friday 9th October at 6pm. It will bring together new versions of some of Radio 1’s existing dance programmes via BBC Sounds, and provide a second chance to hear dance shows from Radio 1. Pete Tong will host the Drivetime slot 4 – 6pm Monday to Thursday, followed by Radio 1 Dance Presents from 6 – 7pm. Radio 1’s Classic Essential Mix airs from 7 – 9pm, followed by Radio 1’s Drum and Bass Show with Renee La Vice 9 – 11pm. Carpark Catchphrase returns with Roy Walker at Radio X

Chris Moyles has brought back a radio feature once popular during his days on BBC Radio 1 Breakfast. Carpark Catchphrase returns for one week only featuring pre-recorded clips from former Catchphrase host Roy Walker and two listeners in their cars. #RoyIsBack was trending on Twitter used by listeners who remembered the competition from eight years and one day ago when it was last broadcast. Radio 1 signs Vick Hope to host weekend shows

Former Capital Breakfast co-host Vick Hope is joining BBC Radio 1 from Sunday 6 September to co-host Life Hacks followed by The Official Chart: First Look. Vick will join current co-host Katie Thistleton on Life Hacks, the show which discusses issues affecting young people, and The Official Chart: First Look. Breakfast with Greg James extended to 10.30 at BBC Radio 1

Greg James is getting a new time slot of 7am till 10.30am as BBC Radio 1 returns to a new regular schedule from 1st September. BBC Radio 1’s Up Yours Corona promotion has taken a new turn today with a blimp emblazoned with the slogan on appearing above Cardiff.
