talkSPORT 2 makes the move to News UK building

News UK is welcoming the talkSPORT 2 team to its building as the station moves out of its home in Hatfields. The station is tweeting video content of the presenters in the new studio from this morning, which is in Southwark overlooking the River Thames, next to The Shard. Virgin Radio is already broadcasting from the News UK HQ, with Chris Evans currently using the future talkRADIO studio ahead of a larger studio being completed for his own show and the rest of the station.

Nick Grimshaw left the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show with half a million more listeners than a year ago – handing them to Greg James who took over the show halfway through the last quarter. The show now attracts 5.75m listeners (Mon – Fri) and is up 465,000 Year on Year. In London, Capital is back on top with almost 2,100,000 listeners according to Reach in the London commercial radio battle, as Kiss slips back under the 2m listener mark (1,958,000). Magic is in third place (1.5m) whilst Heart comes in 4th (1.4m). But BBC Radio 4 continues to lead the London Reach with 2.4m listeners.

Matthew Wright to do afternoons on talkRADIO

Matthew Wright is joining Wireless station talkRADIO from next week to present the 1-4pm afternoon show, replacing Jamie East. Wright recently finished his daily Channel 5 TV show after 18 years – a slot taken over by Jeremy Vine from today. Matthew is a former Sun and Mirror journalist, and alongside his TV presenting work has done cover presenting on Radio 2 – including for Steve Wright and Jeremy Vine.

Guido Fawkes reporter Ross Kempsell to join Talkradio as station's first political editor

Guido Fawkes chief reporter Ross Kempsell has joined Talkradio as the commercial radio station’s first political editor. Kempsell will be on-air later this month. Said Kempsell: “I will drive forward a significant expansion in the station’s political coverage. We plan to build a strong broadcast presence in Westminster.
