Vernon Kay to host Super Bowl LV on BBC Radio 5 Live

The Super Bowl is back on BBC Radio 5 Live for the first time in five years with a new show hosted by Vernon Kay. Live radio coverage of the showdown between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Kansas City Chiefs begins this Sunday at 11pm on 5 Live and BBC Sounds. BBC One will also provide live TV coverage from 11.30pm. Vernon Kay, a frequent visitor to Super Bowl as a fan and broadcaster, is also a former player himself with the London Warriors. Three radio presenters confirmed for I’m A Celebrity

Vernon Kay, Victoria Derbyshire and Jordan North have been confirmed as contestants in this year’s I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! BBC Radio 1 presenter Jordan North tweeted “The Cat’s out the bag….. It’s True!!!” after the news was confirmed on Sunday evening following days of speculation. Nothing But Thieves to play for Radio X

Indie-rock band Nothing But Thieves will play a stripped back gig for Radio X and Barclaycard competition winners. The event is happening at London’s Clapham Grand on Tuesday 10th November and tickets will be available to win in pairs. Musician Gary Powell to host Radio X series

Radio X is launching a brand-new four-part Sunday night series hosted by The Libertines’ drummer Gary Powell. Gary is best known as a member of The Libertines and Dirty Pretty Things. He’s also the former drummer for Eddy Grant and was a touring drummer for ska legends The Specials. Starting this Sunday 4th October at 10pm, he’ll present a four-part series on Radio X, with a playlist of songs and stories that explore the influence of pioneering Black musicians on indie rock and alternative music through the generations. Carpark Catchphrase returns with Roy Walker at Radio X

Chris Moyles has brought back a radio feature once popular during his days on BBC Radio 1 Breakfast. Carpark Catchphrase returns for one week only featuring pre-recorded clips from former Catchphrase host Roy Walker and two listeners in their cars. #RoyIsBack was trending on Twitter used by listeners who remembered the competition from eight years and one day ago when it was last broadcast. George Godfrey gets the Radio X evening show

George Godfrey has been appointed as the full time host on Radio X’s evening show. He had been filling in for Gordon Smart who took time off earlier this year for vocal cord treatment, but announced he wasn’t coming back earlier this month. As a result, Jack Wood stays on the Sunday afternoon slot he’s been covering for Gordon. XS Manchester has doubled its listening hours year-on-year after the station was saved from closure. The Communicorp station now has 132,000 weekly reach (last year 94,000) and 1.28 million hours (last year 546k), giving it more total hours than Manchester’s heritage station Hits Radio. Also in the north west, Radio City Talk, which will close at the end of this month, leaves with 32,000 weekly listeners, down from 45,000 a year ago.
