Bauer to change branding on the Radio City Tower in Liverpool

The Radio City Tower is set to become the Hits Radio Tower as Bauer makes plans to change the outside branding. The company is awaiting approval from Liverpool City Council to change the sign, which has displayed “Radio City 96.7” since the station moved in 24 years ago.

Bauer to rebrand heritage FM stations in England and Wales to Hits Radio

Free Radio, Gem Radio, Hallam FM, Lincs FM, Metro Radio, Pulse 1, Radio City, Rock FM, Signal 1, TFM, Viking FM and Wave Swansea are rebranding to Hits Radio. The news has been announced to staff this morning with 15 radio stations in total making the switch in April 2024.

Rock FM to lose last local show as new shared breakfast show launches

Nick Ferrari picks up Gold at the IRN Awards

All the winners have been announced for the IRN Awards 2020, including the Gold Award going to LBC’s Nick Ferrari. Nick won the IRN Gold Award to mark his outstanding contribution to commercial radio news. Viewers of the online event were played a montage of Ferrari’s best interview clips in which he challenges Boris Johnson, Michael Gove, Dianne Abbott, the former Green Party leader Natalie Bennett and the Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cressida Dick. Accepting the award, Nick said: “These are strange times to be receiving an award but I know it’s great that there are many class Global acts that are on the list so for me to actually receive one means a lot. RAJAR Q1 2020: London and national brands roundup

BBC Radio 2 has lost almost a million listeners in the last year, according to the Q1/2020 audience research from RAJAR. The reach of the UK’s biggest radio station fell from 15.356m at the start of 2019 to 14.362m over the first three months of this year. The two biggest commercial radio networks – Heart and Capital – both lost significant reach over the 12 months too. The Heart network lost 787,000 listeners to leave a reach of 7.737m, while Capital dropped 815,000 to 6.386m. When you add in the other Heart and Capital branded stations – 70s, 80s, 90s, Dance, Xtra and Xtra Reloaded – the Heart brand reaches 9.365m and the Capital brand 7.502m...

Scott Hughes returns to Radio City for Breakfast

Former Radio City Drive presenter Scott Hughes is returning to the station to co-host Breakfast with Leanne Campbell. Scott joined the Breakfast team of Leanne and Dave on air this morning to make the special announcement. Dave Kelly is leaving the station this Friday for a new gig in the Cayman Islands. Radio City’s Dave Kelly to leave Breakfast Show

Breakfast Show co-host Dave Kelly is leaving Radio City in March to take up a full-time live show on X1071 in the Cayman Islands. Co-host Leanne Campbell is staying with the station and has just signed on for another two years at Breakfast. Dave moved to Liverpool in 2011 to be the host of Radio City’s Drive show before moving to co-host the breakfast show with Leanne in 2014.
