Global just launched a country music station from Smooth Radio
Smooth Country has just appeared on the Global Player app, and online via the Smooth Radio website. The new service plays “the most relaxing country songs” and is part of the “playlists” section in the Global Player. It features the same jingles and voice-overs as the main service. Global says: “Smooth Country celebrates the very best of relaxing country music, to make you feel as if you’re chilling with the top down of a Chevy on a long drive across the heart of Nashville.Publication date: 01.03.2019
talkSPORT 2 makes the move to News UK building
News UK is welcoming the talkSPORT 2 team to its building as the station moves out of its home in Hatfields. The station is tweeting video content of the presenters in the new studio from this morning, which is in Southwark overlooking the River Thames, next to The Shard. Virgin Radio is already broadcasting from the News UK HQ, with Chris Evans currently using the future talkRADIO studio ahead of a larger studio being completed for his own show and the rest of the station.Publication date: 28.02.2019
Global to network Capital, Heart and Smooth breakfast shows
Global will broadcast national breakfast shows on the Capital, Heart and Smooth networks by the end of this year, RadioToday can reveal. Capital will go first with the London output replacing 14 breakfast programmes on the Capital network in England, Scotland and Wales on April 8th. Due to deregulation and larger ‘approved areas’, only nine drivetime shows will be provided instead of the current 14.Publication date: 26.02.2019
Greg James to present his first show on BBC Radio 4 this May

KISS and Hits Radio join up for BRIT Awards show
KISS and Hits Radio will be broadcasting live from the BRITs this year with presenters from both networking joining together for a special show. ‘Live at the BRITs’ returns as a three hour show broadcast from 7-10pm on Wednesday evening. Greg James is stuck in the Radio 1 Escape Room
BBC Radio 1’s latest on-air promotion started on Monday morning and sees Greg James locked in a room needing help from listeners to get out. Greg was taken away from his breakfast show before 8am, blindfolded and put in the back of a van. Anthea Turner joins Scala Radio weekend line-up
Bauer has confirmed the full presenting line-up for its new classical music station Scala Radio, with Anthea Turner, Alexis Ffrench, Luci Holland, Faye Treacy and Hannah Cox added to the schedule.
