Final agenda confirmed for Drive to Digital event

Digital Radio UK has confirmed the final conference agenda for Drive to Digital 2018: The Future of Radio. Drive to Digital 2018 will be chaired by Gethin Jones, co-presenter of the new Hits Radio Breakfast Show, and has a line up of senior speakers from broadcasters, supply chain, the automotive sector, the audio market and podcasters, who will be sharing their views on the future of radio.

LBC and Heart run Against Hate campaign on-air

Nationwide is joining forces with LBC and Heart to continue the #TogetherAgainstHate campaign. Created by Wavemaker, this latest part of the campaign will involve three weeks of activity on LBC and Heart starting this week. Throughout this week, LBC will run a special report where guests will be interviewed during Shelagh Fogarty’s show weekdays 1pm – 4pm to discuss different topics around online hate.

More speakers for the International Radio Festival

More speakers have been announced for the International Radio Festival taking place in Malta next month. BBC R&D’s Executive Producer Nicky Birch will cover exciting developments in voice-first audio formats, while international radio consultant and former Real Radio director John Simons will lead a panel on the rise of niche radio services from rock to jazz.

ARIAS 18 nominations to be revealed at Next Radio

Matt and Polly from Capital South Wales will announce the nominations for this year’s Audio and Radio Industry Awards from the Next Radio conference in London on September 17th. The breakfast presenters will be up front to present the shortlist at 2pm, which will also be streamed live from the Radio Academy’s Facebook page.

BBC Radio 1 today announced the star-studded line up for BBC Radio 1’s Teen Awards 2018 with Little Mix, 5 Seconds of Summer, HRVY, Jack and Jack, Jonas Blue, Mabel, Not3s and Sigrid all set to perform at The SSE Arena, Wembley on Sunday 21 October 2018. Hosted by BBC Radio 1 presenters Greg James, Maya Jama and Mollie King, the show will also feature the biggest names across music, television, film and sport, with more to be announced.

As the longtime presenter vacates his breakfast slot, five of the six favourites to take over his popular show are women. So what has prompted this cultural shift in a schedule that has been dominated by men for years? A new autumn season of programmes for BBC Radio 3

BBC Radio 3 Controller Alan Davey has unveiled a raft of new commissions and programmes at the station for the autumn season. New features include the world premiere of a rediscovered Edith Wharton play, a new dedicated Slow Radio slot, the first Radio 3 programme for voice recognition technology, and a focus on young artists across the station’s concert stands.

Chris Evans to leave BBC Radio 2

BBC Radio 2 today announces that Radio 2 Breakfast Show presenter Chris Evans will be leaving the network. Thirteen years after presenting his first show for the station, he will broadcast his last show in December 2018. Chris says: “I have absolutely loved every single moment of my time at Radio 2. The last 13 years have flashed by in what seems like the blink of an eye. I have learnt so much from so many people to whom I will be eternally grateful.

Matthew Wright to do afternoons on talkRADIO

Matthew Wright is joining Wireless station talkRADIO from next week to present the 1-4pm afternoon show, replacing Jamie East. Wright recently finished his daily Channel 5 TV show after 18 years – a slot taken over by Jeremy Vine from today. Matthew is a former Sun and Mirror journalist, and alongside his TV presenting work has done cover presenting on Radio 2 – including for Steve Wright and Jeremy Vine.
