Frank Skinner marks 10 years on Absolute with 10-hour show

Roman Kemp, Vick Hope and Sonny Jay to go national on Capital

Capital’s new networked breakfast show has been confirmed as Roman Kemp, Vick Hope and Sonny Jay – the current presenters for Capital Breakfast in London. Local Capital and Heart Drivetime programmes remain in Wales

Five Capital and Heart stations in Wales will need to continue providing their own drivetime programmes, despite Ofcom creating an “Approved Area” for the entire nation. In the new approved area, under normal circumstances, Heart in Cardiff and Heart in Wrexham would be able to share all programmes because they are in the same approved area, similarly with Capital.

talkSPORT goes live from new studios at News UK

talkSPORT has begun broadcasts from its new home on the 17th floor of the News UK building at London Bridge, after almost 20 years at Hatfields. Alan Brazil’s breakfast show with Ally McCoist and Dean Saunders was the first to air from studio 17E at 6am, with guests including Olly Murs, Lawrence Dallaglio, Ian Holloway, George Groves and the Premier League trophy.

Bauer Media has closed down Sam FM Thames Valley

Bauer Media has quietly closed one of the radio stations it bought recently. Sam FM Thames Valley – which was one of the 27 radio stations Bauer acquired from Celador Radio less than a month ago – is no longer on-air and has been removed from the Sam FM app and website.

Simon Mayo launches Scala Radio on DAB digital radio

Bauer’s latest radio service, Scala Radio, launched as planned at 10am on Monday 4th March 2019. After a three minute history of the world in audio form, Simon Mayo welcomed listeners to the exciting new sound of Scala Radio, and quoted Alan Fluff Freeman by saying “Greetings music lovers”. The first music to be played was Prelude to Act 1 from the opera Carmen by Bizet, followed by Dvorak and a string quartet version of Daft Punk’s Get Lucky.

Disney to sponsor Simon Mayo’s Scala Radio show

Simon Mayos mid-morning show on Scala Radio will be sponsored by Disney for the first six months. Other sponsors getting involved with the digital station from launch include AJ Bell, Bensons for Beds, Davidstow Cheddar, Emerald Waterways, Kilimanjaro Live Ltd promoting Andrea Bocelli & Hans Zimmer, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, Salisbury International Arts Festival, Sandals Resorts, and Royal Historic Palaces.
