Cillian Murphy returns to BBC Radio 6 Music

Cillian Murphy is back at 6 Music to host a new 12 part series called Cillian Murphy’s Limited Edition. The series of two-hour programmes launches on Monday 19 October on 6 Music (12am-2am) and sees Cillian curate his own nocturnal playlist, made for after midnight. The programmes will feature a personal selection by Cillian of music both old and new, with genres ranging from afrobeat to electronica, jazz, spoken word and poetry and featuring iconic artists including Patti Smith, Iggy Pop, David Bowie and many more. At the end of each episode listeners will be able to listen immediately to the next programme, which will be available on BBC Sounds ahead of being broadcast on BBC Radio 6 Music the following Monday...

Bauer stations to air new Scottish sports show

A new sports show – The Big Saturday Football Show – is being launched across five Bauer stations in Scotland from next Saturday. Presented by Steven Mill and Ewen Cameron, the 2-6pm programme will broadcast on Forth 1, MFR, Tay FM, West FM and Radio Borders. Superscoreboard will continue on Clyde 1, while Northsound 1 in Aberdeen is launching a new show called ‘Red Saturday’ hosted by Mike MacDermid and Cheryl Buchan. Joanna Page to host Sundays on BBC Radio Wales

Welsh actress Joanna Page is to present her own Sunday morning show on BBC Radio Wales, starting 18 October. Sunday Morning With Joanna Page will be her first ever radio show, following her titular role in the BBC comedy. The mother-of-three from Swansea, well know for her role in Gavin & Stacey, says: “I’m really excited about my new series on Radio Wales and look forward to just gossiping. Because the Welsh talk like nobody else. Winners announced at Irish radio awards event

Five radio stations in Northern Ireland picked up awards at the All-Ireland radio awards, the IMROs, last Friday. BBC Radio Ulster, BBC Radio Foyle, Q Radio and Cool FM/Downtown were recognised in various categories. KISS stations unite for the Haunted House Party

KISS FM, KISSTORY and KISS Fresh will unite to broadcast the KISS Haunted House Party for the first time this year. The event is usually held at London’s Wembley Arena but will be online and on-air this time round, hosted by KISS Breakfast’s Jordan and Perri. Musician Gary Powell to host Radio X series

Radio X is launching a brand-new four-part Sunday night series hosted by The Libertines’ drummer Gary Powell. Gary is best known as a member of The Libertines and Dirty Pretty Things. He’s also the former drummer for Eddy Grant and was a touring drummer for ska legends The Specials. Jammy move as Global poach MistaJam for Capital Dance

Capital is launching Capital Dance on DAB across the UK and has poached MistaJam from BBC Radio 1 to launch it – today – RadioToday can reveal. MistaJam, who resigned suddenly from the BBC last week, will host Tuesday to Saturday Drive on Capital Dance and the Capital Weekender, Friday and Saturday from 7pm on both Capital and Capital Dance. Skunk Anansie lead singer Skin joins Absolute Radio

Absolute Radio has hired Skunk Anansie lead singer and songwriter Skin to host a new 10-part series. During the programmes, which start in October, Skin will play the songs which have sound-tracked her life as well as the new music she’s listening to. It’s not working out: Jamie East exits talkRADIO

Broadcaster Jamie East is leaving News after four years on-air at talkRADIO and Virgin Radio. Jamie tweeted yesterday saying he’s hosted his final show at talkRADIO, and he’s sorry it didn’t work out. He thanked bosses Scott, Liam and others, adding that it was (mostly) a laugh. In a separate message, he responded to a clip of Mark Dolan cutting up his face mask live on air, saying “It’s clear that TalkRADIO has a clearly defined idea of where it’s heading, sadly not many of those ideals were a great fit.
