Presenters Ewen and Cat are reunited at Breakfast

Cat Harvey is returning to breakfast radio in Scotland as she joins Ewen Cameron on the Greatest Hits Radio Network. Ewen and Cat will be back together again, almost a decade after they first worked together on Real Radio Scotland. They’ll be on Clyde 2, Forth 2 and the rest of the network in Scotland from 11th January 2021. Ewen said: “Cat is the epicentre of fun and I can’t wait for her to bring that every single morning to the radio studio. I’m over the moon we’re back together because as much as I’ve enjoyed working on my own, it’s like Ant without Dec, C3PO without R2D2. Cat completes me.”...

Bauer stations to air new Scottish sports show

A new sports show – The Big Saturday Football Show – is being launched across five Bauer stations in Scotland from next Saturday. Presented by Steven Mill and Ewen Cameron, the 2-6pm programme will broadcast on Forth 1, MFR, Tay FM, West FM and Radio Borders. Superscoreboard will continue on Clyde 1, while Northsound 1 in Aberdeen is launching a new show called ‘Red Saturday’ hosted by Mike MacDermid and Cheryl Buchan. Nick Ferrari picks up Gold at the IRN Awards

All the winners have been announced for the IRN Awards 2020, including the Gold Award going to LBC’s Nick Ferrari. Nick won the IRN Gold Award to mark his outstanding contribution to commercial radio news. Viewers of the online event were played a montage of Ferrari’s best interview clips in which he challenges Boris Johnson, Michael Gove, Dianne Abbott, the former Green Party leader Natalie Bennett and the Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cressida Dick. Accepting the award, Nick said: “These are strange times to be receiving an award but I know it’s great that there are many class Global acts that are on the list so for me to actually receive one means a lot. RAJAR Q1 2020: London and national brands roundup

BBC Radio 2 has lost almost a million listeners in the last year, according to the Q1/2020 audience research from RAJAR. The reach of the UK’s biggest radio station fell from 15.356m at the start of 2019 to 14.362m over the first three months of this year. The two biggest commercial radio networks – Heart and Capital – both lost significant reach over the 12 months too. The Heart network lost 787,000 listeners to leave a reach of 7.737m, while Capital dropped 815,000 to 6.386m. When you add in the other Heart and Capital branded stations – 70s, 80s, 90s, Dance, Xtra and Xtra Reloaded – the Heart brand reaches 9.365m and the Capital brand 7.502m...

Virgin Radio to air Pete Mitchell tribute this weekend

A special show to celebrate the life and career of radio presenter Pete Mitchell, hosted by Chris Evans, will be broadcast on Virgin Radio UK on Sunday evening. Pete died suddenly last month, aged just 61, while out walking near his home in Stockport. His 34 years in radio as a presenter and producer had seen him work at stations including Piccadilly Radio, Key 103, Virgin, Radio 2, 6 Music and Absolute Radio. Perhaps most famous for his partnership with Geoff Lloyd on Virgin Radio in the 2000s, he’d most recently been making ‘Revolutions in Music’ documentaries for the new Virgin Radio...

Nicola Sturgeon radio special for Bauer Scotland

Bauer has secured a one-hour special with First Minister Nicola Sturgeon for broadcast across the Hits Radio and Greatest Hits networks in Scotland. The First Minister will be joining Ewen Cameron from 9am to 10am on Friday 3rd April 2020 to answer questions from listeners and to respond to their most pressing issues and concerns about COVID 19 as well as providing the latest updates on the Scottish Government’s response. The nominations for the 2020 IRN Awards have been announced by Sky News presenter Kay Burley. There are 12 categories including the Student Journalist of the Year prize which is supported by the Broadcast Journalism Training Council. Duncan Leven to leave Radio Clyde after 26 years

Bauer Media’s Content Controller for the Greatest Hits Network in Scotland, Duncan Leven, is leaving the company next week after more than 26 years at Radio Clyde. The team at Clydebank in Glasgow was told earlier today that Duncan has decided the ‘time is right to look for some new challenges’.
