Zoe Ball has lost another 364,000 listeners to her BBC Radio 2 breakfast show in the latest radio listening figures from RAJAR. It means more than a million weekly listeners have switched off since she took over the breakfast show from Chris Evans in January. The big stories from the regions are that Heart has increased its audience despite rolling out a national breakfast show, and Greatest Hits Radio stations are taking a beating under their new names. Global - For the Heart brand, overall, it has seen an increase in listeners since taking its breakfast show national. It now has 9.8m weekly reach compared with 9.7m last quarter and 9.6m last year. Global’s Make Some Noise Day raises over £4m

The total from Global’s Make Some Noise Day stands at over four million pounds – at £4,097,325 raised in just one day. Staff from Global stations all over the UK took part in fundraising activities, from Jamie Theakston cycling from Edinburgh to London, Kate Garraway appearing in five West End Shows in one day, and Roman Kemp travelling 1,000 miles around the UK without money or use of his phone. Garry Spence to leave Capital Scotland for Clyde 1

Capital Scotland drivetime presenter Garry Spence is leaving the station after more than a decade to join commercial rival Clyde 1. Garry has been on drive on the Capital Scotland frequencies since the station rebranded from Xfm to Galaxy in November 2008. Capital’s Roman Kemp in trouble for repeated swear words

Capital has been found in breach of two Ofcom rules for broadcasting a pre-recorded offensive item twice in the same breakfast show. Content with the offensive language, (an F bomb), was broadcast in a segment at 6.10am, to which the breakfast presenter apologised for. The exact same content, a prank call, was then broadcast again at 8.15 followed by a similar apology. RAJAR Q2 2019: London and national brands round-up

Zoe Ball has lost more than three quarters of a million listeners to her BBC Radio 2 breakfast show, according to the latest audience research from RAJAR. The show’s reach is down 781,000 quarter-on-quarter to 8.266m for the three months survey period up to the 23rd June 2019. In Q1/19 she had 9.047m listeners; in Q2/2018 Chris Evans reached 9.038m. Radio 2’s audience at breakfast is now the lowest its been since Q3/2010, when Evans was fairly new in the job.

Bauer gains approval to network breakfast shows

Ofcom has granted Bauer a number of Format changes to allow all of its stations to network all but three hours each weekday rather than the previous seven. UK commercial radio stations have been allowed to submit Format changes since the Localness Guidelines were amended last year, but Bauer has only just taken the steps required to allow this. Bauer can now share all programmes, with the exception of a three-hour show on weekdays (which doesn’t have to be breakfast), in the approved areas already suggested by Ofcom.

Love Island winner Dani Dyer joins Capital

Dani Dyer is joining Capital to co-host weekend breakfast this summer. Starting this Sunday July 7th, the Love Island 2018 winner will join Capital’s Rob Howard every Saturday and Sunday from 11am – 12pm. Dani has covered a few times before with previous guest presenting stints. Dani said: “I’m super excited to be joining the Capital team for the summer! Extra Welsh programmes and presenters for Capital Cymru

Capital Cymru is dropping networked programmes in favour of providing more Welsh programmes and presenters. The weekday line-up from tomorrow, Thursday 23rd May, includes Alistair James (current breakfast presenter) on from 6am till 10am. He’ll be followed by a new Welsh mid-morning show from 10am with Dafydd Griffith, before Kev Bach’s 2pm – 7pm weekday show. Kev was previously on-air for six hours weekdays from 1pm till 7pm.
