The total from Global’s Make Some Noise Day stands at over four million pounds – at £4,097,325 raised in just one day. Staff from Global stations all over the UK took part in fundraising activities, from Jamie Theakston cycling from Edinburgh to London, Kate Garraway appearing in five West End Shows in one day, and Roman Kemp travelling 1,000 miles around the UK without money or use of his phone. 'It's a new golden age': Radio 3 launches video game music show

Radio 3 is launching a new weekly programme dedicated to video game soundtracks. BBC Radio 2’s Rylan Clark-Neal to sing for 24 hours

Presenter Rylan Clark-Neal will sing in a 24 hour non-stop karaoke extravaganza to raise money for BBC Children in Need 2019. The challenge will kick off on BBC Radio 2 at the end of the Zoe Ball Breakfast show at 9am on Tuesday 12 November, with Rylan singing karaoke classics through to 9am on Wednesday 13 November. The marathon sing-a-long will take place at the Radio 2 studios in Wogan House, London and be broadcast on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds, and streamed live in vision on the BBC Red Button where viewers can watch Rylan and his guests perform.

Detector Van advertising campaign starts for Chris Evans

A new advertising campaign for the Chris Evans Breakfast Show on Virgin Radio has kicked off. Chris, his wife Natasha, and his two sons – seven-year-old Eli and ten-year-old Noah – have filmed the new advert in the Virgin Radio ‘detector van’, styled on the old TV detector vans. 1Xtra Live event cancelled after Police incident

BBC Radio 1Xtra cancelled its Live event in Birmingham on Saturday night after a man was slashed during a backstage incident. West Midlands Police tweeted about the situation, saying the Arena Birmingham alerted them to an assault which took place in the backstage area at 10pm on Saturday. They said: “It’s understood that a man sustained a slash wound during the assault. He was treated by on-site medical staff and did not require hospital treatment.”

BBC Radio 4 brings The Kinks’ Arthur to life in new drama

In the year of its 50th anniversary, The Kinks’ album Arthur (Or The Decline And Fall Of The British Empire) has been transformed into an audio drama for BBC Radio 4. Arthur has been adapted by The Kinks frontman and modern music icon Ray Davies himself, alongside Olivier-nominated playwright, dramaturg and musician Paul Sirett. The story - of both the drama and the original album - sees a close-knit, working-class family torn apart when Ray's brother-in-law, Arthur, decides to move his family half way around the world to Australia.

Radio 1 joins European dance music radio simulcast

BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac will host the first hour of an 7-hour dance show which is being simulcast across 8 radio stations in 7 European countries next month. The show will run from 7pm till 2am on Friday 11th October, with Radio 1 joining forces with Sweden’s SR P3, WDR 1Live and RBB Fritz in Germany, Belgium’s VRT Studio Brussel, RTÉ 2fm in Ireland, Radio France Mouv and NPO 3FM in The Netherlands. The BBC says the show will have an audience of more than 18 million listeners, who will hear ‘exclusive mixes’ and ‘interviews from the biggest UK acts’.

Bauer Radio’s Hits Live returns to three locations

Bauer has announced details of this year’s Hits Radio Live taking place once again in Manchester, Birmingham and Liverpool. Each event features its own individual line-up including Lewis Capaldi, Mark Ronson, Rita Ora and Mabel. Liam Payne will be reunited with former One Direction band-mate Louis Tomlinson as they join the same bill at Hits Live Manchester. Jazz FM and BBC Radio 3 share content in new partnership

BBC Radio 3 and BBC Sounds will broadcast Jazz FM content whilst Jazz FM is to share key recordings from BBC Radio 3. The partnership is in aid of the EFG London Jazz Festival bringing the two stations together.
