Tyler West to replace Alex and Andrea on KISS afternoons
There’s a new daytime line-up at KISS from today as mid-morning presenter Neev leaves for maternity. Alex and Andrea, who have previously teamed up to host ‘Live@KISS’ from 3-7pm on weekdays, will now host their own individual shows. Andrea Zara takes on mid-mornings on the station, taking over from Neev, and Alex Mansuroglu will host evenings from 7pm. KISS Afternoons will now be hosted by Tyler West who joined the brand earlier this year hosting weekday evenings.Publication date: 17.06.2019
Global to launch Heart Dance with Toby Anstis on Breakfast
Heart Dance, a new service from Global, is launching on DAB digital radio across the UK this Friday 21st June. The Club Classics formatted station will have former Heart presenters Toby Anstis on the breakfast show, and Lucy Horobin on afternoon drive. Lucy will also be presenting a weekend show every Saturday from 10am – 1pm. Heart Dance will play club classics from the likes of Basement Jaxx, Daft Punk, Ne-Yo, Ultra Naté, Fatboy Slim and Armand Van Helden.Publication date: 17.06.2019
BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show’s 500 Words 2019 winners are revealed at Windsor Castle
The six winners of this year’s BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show’s 500 Words children’s writing competition were announced today during a live broadcast from Windsor Castle. The final was attended by Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall who is an Honorary Judge and delivered a speech to the audience and met all the winners. The Bronze, Silver and Gold winning stories across the two age categories (5-9 years and 10-13 years) were read out by Hugh Bonneville, Konnie Huq, Helen McCrory OBE, Michael Sheen OBE, Sandi Toksvig OBE and David Walliams OBE. The event was attended Chris Evans, who created and launched 500 Words in 2011 and is Chair of the judging panel...Publication date: 14.06.2019
BBC World Service The Food Chain Global Champion Award goes to School Meals Project in India
At the BBC Food and Farming Awards in Bristol, the BBC World Service Global Champion Award was presented to Akshaya Patra - the world’s largest charity-run school meals project. This is the third year The Food Chain has presented its Global Champion Award. It looks for a person or project who is changing the way we produce, process, consume or even think about food for the better. Alan Robson’s Night Owls to end on Metro Radio and TFM
Alan Robson has announced his late night phone in, which he has hosted for almost 40 years, is coming to an end. He started hosting the show started on Metro Radio in 1983 and later extended to TFM in recent years, but will finish on Thursday 27th June 2019. Alan told listeners on Thursday evening, 13th June, and posted the news on social media. Alan said: “I’ve had an incredible career on Metro and I’m grateful to both them, and you the listeners, for sticking by me for so long.”Publication date: 13.06.2019
Ross Buchanan joins Absolute Radio for weekend breakfast
Absolute Radio has signed former Radio X presenter Ross Buchanan to present weekend breakfast. Ross will also host a number of shows across the network of seven Absolute Radio stations. Absolute Radio Content Director Paul Sylvester told RadioToday: “Ross is a passionate music fan and this is a great opportunity for him to share his love on-air. Gold returns to national digital radio with James Bassam on Breakfast
Gold is returning to the national DAB multiplex D1 and putting James Bassam – The Bassman from Capital – on Breakfast. James will replace Tony Dibbin, who left the station last month after a decade on-air, from Monday 10th June. The Bassman currently presents on Capital. Pet Shop Boys to headline BBC Radio 2 Live In Hyde Park
BBC Radio 2, the UK’s most listened to radio station, proudly announces the line-up for one of the summer’s most-anticipated music festivals - BBC Radio 2 Live In Hyde Park - which takes place on Sunday 15 September in London. Radio 1 and 1Xtra return to Ibiza
BBC Radio 1Xtra will be returning to Ibiza following the success of last years event, taking some of the biggest names in black music to the white isle for a night of DJ sets and performances at Ibiza Rocks on Saturday 3 August. BBC Radio 1 will also be returning for its annual trip, continuing its legacy on the island. This year, the station will be taking the biggest dance artists to Ibiza Rocks on Friday 2 August hosted by dance champions Annie Mac and Danny Howard.
