Sian Welby joins Roman and Sonny on Capital Breakfast

Capital has announced that Sian Welby is joining its breakfast show team, replacing Vick Hope. Sian moves from the Heart evening show. She’s been on with Roman Kemp and Sonny Jay this week as a guest but has now been confirmed as officially being part of the team. Sian got her big break in 2010 as a weather presenter on Channel 5 and has been with Heart for just over 3 years, having replaced Roberto on evenings in January 2017. She said: “After an incredible 3 years at Heart I am beyond excited to be starting a whole new adventure on Capital – it hasn’t really sunk in yet but I’m overwhelmed with the support from everyone…I can’t stop smiling!”...

RAJAR Q4 2019: London and national brands round-up

Coverage of the general election helped 5 Live, Radio 4 and LBC each add half a million listeners across 2019. 5 Live is up from 4.9m to 5.4m in the Q4/2019 RAJAR listening figures, while Radio 4 has added a similar amount, rising from 10.4m a year ago to 10.9m now. Jenni Falconer moves from Heart to Smooth Radio

Jenni Falconer joining Smooth Radio to present the breakfast show in London and nationwide on Smooth Extra after leaving Heart last year. She takes over from Gary King, who will present Smooth’s new, national early breakfast show from Monday to Friday, as well as continuing to host Saturday afternoons across the network. Angie Greaves, who joined Smooth last September to host the brand-new nationwide Smooth Drive Home, will present a new three-hour Sunday morning show. Jenni Falconer is stepping down from weekday early breakfast on Heart making way for James Stewart as part of a number of schedule changes at the station. JK and Kelly Brook are moving to Saturday mid-mornings 9am – 12pm, whilst Zoe Hardman adds Saturday breakfast to her current Sunday breakfast show. Rochelle Humes takes a break from Heart radio show

Heart weekend presenter Rochelle Humes is taking a break from the station to concentrate on television work. Rochelle started a weekend show on Heart in January 2018 after covering the Big Top 40 with her husband Marvin Humes. Martin and Su from Heart Essex join Radio Essex

Radio Essex has just announced former Heart Essex Breakfast presenters Martin Day & Su Harrison are joining the station for Breakfast. The pair left the local Heart station earlier this year when the breakfast show went networked with Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden. Martin and Su will replace Chris and Abbie who move to Drive, replacing Paul Lovett who moves to weekends and cover. £850,000 raised at Global’s Make Some Noise gala

A number of presenters from Global’s radio brands hosted the Make Some Noise annual charity gala at London’s Finsbury Square on Monday. The event raised £850,000 for charity, as music artists including Robbie Williams, Tom Walker and Freya Ridings took to the stage to perform live in front of almost 500 special guests. Global united all its radio brands for the event – Heart, Capital, Smooth, Classic FM, LBC, Radio X, Capital XTRA and Gold – to help children and young people living with illness, disability or lack of opportunity.

Zoe Ball has lost another 364,000 listeners to her BBC Radio 2 breakfast show in the latest radio listening figures from RAJAR.
